Minnesota Vikings-New York Giants Game Delay Helps Brett Favre

Currently, Brett Favre’s consecutive games started streak is at 297. If he plays out the season, he’ll finish his career with his streak at 301 games.

He says it doesn’t mean a whole lot to him to hit 300, and the Minnesota Vikings claim they’re not paying attention, but we all know that’s rubbish.

That’s right. I said rubbish.

There have been a few scares this season that Favre’s streak would come to an end due to a several different injuries, but this week has probably challenged the streak more than any other week.

Favre took a nasty hit against the Bills and was clearly in a lot of pain. As of writing this Sunday morning, Favre had not thrown any passes at practice and only messed around throwing left-handed and took some snaps.

A veteran like Favre doesn’t really need a week of practice in order to play, but if the shoulder hurt so bad he couldn’t practice Friday, that’s usually not a good sign for Sunday.

But, fortunately for Favre and the Vikings, they no longer play Sunday. The delay due to the storm moving through the Midwest will give Favre another day to heal his 41-year old shoulder and extend the streak.

And despite what people are saying, even a 50 percent Favre at 41 years old is a better option than a healthy Tarvaris Jackson. Sure, Jackson looked alright last week, but that was against the Buffalo Bills, and let’s not forget he threw a touchdown to them as well.

The Vikings’ playoff chances are all but dead, but with Leslie Frazier fighting for a full-time job running the show, the team is going to do everything it can to win, and that includes doing all they can to make sure Favre is the guy under center.

Mother Nature just happened to step in and help things along a little bit.
