Well, You’ve Been Waiting For It: Could Brett Favre Return to the NFL?

Even during an offseason that has been filled with stories of ongoing labor negotiations and messages to lift the lockout, NFL super diva Brett Favre has found a way to insert his name in the headlines. NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt reported today that Lord Favre may just be interested in playing yet another season.

“I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning,” Brandt said in a chat today. “But I don’t see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter.

“Brett is still a good quarterback, but I’d consider him a descending quarterback. It’s awfully hard for him to go to a team and be a backup. The Vikings must start Christian Ponder this season to get him some experience. And they’re not going to get Favre in there to babysit Ponder.”

I won’t really put much stock into this story because, well, I just can’t take Brett Favre seriously anymore. He’s turned himself into the NFL’s running joke and he just doesn’t have much more to offer.  Why would Favre even consider another comeback? His legacy has been damaged enough the past few years due to his attention seeking habits.

Just admit it, Brett. You’re career as a NFL quarterback is done. At this point, there is only two things you are good at: throwing and sexting picks. Ride off into the sunset, cowboy. Don’t make us hear these tired stories again.
