Could Tashard Choice Fill the Void in Detroit Lions Backfield?

It is very unfortunate for the Detroit Lions that they lost their rookie running back Mikel Leshoure for the season after he suffered a torn Achilles during practice today. The move will leave the Lions scrambling for a replacement and back to take some of the pressure off of starter Jahvid Best. However, there is some good news in the timing of this injury.

It is a very “glass half full” approach at looking at the Lions running back situation, but if the team is paying attention to today’s headlines they will not have to look too far for a replacement.

Dallas Cowboys running back Tashard Choice could be on the way out in Dallas and the team could even trade him for a late round pick. Choice will be fully recovered from a minor injury in about 2-4 weeks, so he could come over to Detroit and fill the void in the backfield created by Leshoure’s absense.

Choice has proved to be an effective back when given the chance in Dallas and he will come at a much cheaper price than the top veterans left on the free agent market. It is something the Lions should strongly consider.
