With last year’s leading rushing Arian Foster being plagued with a hamstring injury, Houston Texans backup running back Ben Tate took advantage of the opportunity. In two weeks, Tate has rushed for 219 yards and that has been enough to earn him the starting job… for now.
“[Tate is] playing really well,” Kubiak said in comments distributed by the team. “As we work Arian back into what we’re doing and get him back to full speed, Ben’s going to probably carry most of the load right now as we work forward with Arian.”
That appears to be bad news for Arian Foster fantasy owners, but good news for those who took Ben Tate in their fantasy drafts — patting myself on the back for that one. Hopefully Foster can get back to 100% before the playoff stretch. With a healthy Foster and Ben Tate playing lights out, the Texans have a pretty impressive duo in the backfield.
