Hank Williams Jr. Responds to Being Pulled From Monday Night Football

Hank Williams Jr. was very publicly pulled from his weekly appearance as the opening act to Monday Night Football. To be fair, many may not have noticed Williams’ absence as the opening is the time we spend to load up on snacks and grab an ice cold adult beverage.

ESPN stated today that they have fired Hank, but Mr. Williams has a different take on the story. According to him, he decided to walk away from the gig with all of his rowdy friends.

"“After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.” — Hank Williams Jr"

Oh, Hank. I don’t know whether it is more troubling that he doesn’t understand he did something wrong or that he actually believed he was an important part of Monday Night Football. Regardless of his issues, I am glad to see the song go and move on from any more Hank Williams Jr. talk.
