NFL Draft 2012: Dre Kirkpatrick Arrested For Possession Of Marijuana

by NFL

Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick declared for the 2012 NFL Draft just a week ago and was considered a potential top 15 pick. It’s hard to believe that Kirkpatrick could severely damage his stock in such a small amount of time, but he has done just that with his immaturity and irresponsibility.

Kirkpatrick has been arrested for possession of marijuana… sure does give a new meaning to “Roll Tide.” The second-team All-American was released on $120 bond.

The corner, who played a significant part in Alabama’s national championship run, was arrested with less than 20 grams of marijuana. He will not see jail time, but his draft stock will take a hit and he will receive a fine. How far will Kirkpatrick fall? Will teams completely take him off of their draft board?

Decisions off the field play a big part of where a player is selected. Kirkpatrick has made a terrible one and will have to pay for it. Let the free fall begin.
