Mike Sherman Scheduled For Second Interview With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

by Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman is the first person to receive a phone call for a second interview for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ coaching vacancy, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Sherman, 57, has not coached in the NFL since being fired by the Green Bay Packers in 2005. He posted a career record of 57-39 and led the team to three division titles in six seasons. Upon his dismissal from Green Bay, Sherman took over as the head man at Texas A&M. He went 25-25 with the Aggies, taking them to a pair of bowl games. However, the Aggies never placed higher than fifth in the Big 12.

Sherman is reportedly also being considered for the offensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins, following former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.

Stroud reports that the Buccaneers’ list of candidates also includes former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, former Vikings head coach Brad Childress, former Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements and Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.
