The Minnesota Vikings hold the third-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Many mock drafts have the Vikings going in the direction of selecting USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil to protect last year’s first-round pick, Christian Ponder. Another popular option is to see the Vikings giving Ponder a big-time weapon with Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon. What are the Vikings leaning towards doing?
While, without giving away any major details, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman added a third option to the list for the Vikings — a trade down.
“It will be, I think, very busy on draft day,” Spielman told the NFL Network from the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. “We’re the third overall pick, so we’ll be looking at all the options. If someone wants to come up and get our pick, we’re going to be more than willing to listen.”
If Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III is available when the Vikings on the clock, expect Minnesota to receive a ton of calls and interest in the third-overall pick.
