Miami Dolphins Have Connections with Two Top Available QBs

The Miami Dolphins will be looking for a new quarterback this offseason, despite the solid play of Matt Moore to close of the season. One report has indicated that the Dolphins top priority will be pursuing Peyton Manning, however, the Dolphins also have connections to two of the top available signal-callers.

Immediately after hiring Joe Philbin as the new head coach, speculation began that Philbin would bring his quarterback from Green Bay — Matt Flynn — with him to South Beach. As expected, Flynn appears to be the Dolphins’ fallback plan if Manning is not available.

On top of Manning and Flynn, there is another top available quarterback who the Dolphins have a connection with — Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill.

The Dolphins announced the addition of Mike Sherman to the coaching staff as the team’s offensive coordinator. Sherman was the head coach at Texas A&M from 2008-2011, before accepting the coordinator job with the Dolphins. As you surely have figured out, Sherman coached Tannehill in college.

Everyone wants to bring a familiar face with them, when starting a new job. Philbin will want Flynn and Sherman will want Tannehill, so which coach will win out? You’d have to think the man calling the plays would be the one who could bring in the quarterback of his choice, so don’t be surprised to see Tannehill suiting up for the Dolphins next year.
