The New York Giants have jumped out to an early lead on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. New England finds themselves in an early hole and will need to claw themselves out. For the first score of the game — and the Patriots only play of the first 12 minutes of the game — Tom Brady was called for intentional grounding in the endzone and the Giants were rewarded with the safety. The early safety goes to show off the Giants pass rush and could get them into Tom Brady’s head early.
On the very next drive, Victor Cruz appeared to fumble in the red zone, but the New England defense was called for having too many men on the field. After the penalty, Eli Manning through a laser to Cruz in the endzone for the game’s first touchdown and extending the Giants lead to 9-0.
