NFL Draft 2012: Vontaze Burfict Struggling With Combine Preparation
By Josh Sanchez
The 2012 NFL Scouting Combine is just over a week away. The biggest job interview for draft prospects kicks off February 22nd at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. One player who was looking to improve his stock was Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
Burfict has top 15 talent, but his poor work ethic and attitude has caused him to slip down draft boards. Burfict has a chance to show scouts he is worth drafting high in Indianapolis, however, news surrounding the former Sun Devil is very negative.
Draft insider Tony Pauline is reporting that buzz surrounding Burfict is that he is struggling with his combine preparation. Burfict reportedly showed up to his combine training “soft and out of shape.”
Pauline goes on to reveal that Burfict has been slowed down by a hamstring injury and that Burfict is only completing 15 reps on the bench press.
The news is extremely negative for Burfict, who hopes to show that his work ethic is not an issue. If he doesn’t get his act together and show up to the Combine in shape, he could fall out of the first-round completely.
