The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that they have hired former Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson to be their Assistant Coach overseeing the Secondary and Special Teams.

Jackson has been out of work since being fired by the Raiders just over a month ago as new General Manager Reggie McKenzie cleaned house in the wake of the death of former owner Al Davis.

This will be Jackson’s second stint with the Bengals. He was the wide receivers coach in Cincinnati from 2004 until after the 2006 season when he was hired by the Atlanta Falcons as their Offensive Coordinator. Under Jackson, T.J Houshmandzadeh and Chad Ochocinco had their best years in Cincy and formed one of the deadliest wide receiver duos in the NFL.

The Bengals have now firmly shown they intend to make improvements to their secondary and it is believed by many they will address both the cornerback and safety positions in free agency and in the upcoming NFL Draft.
