NFL Draft 2012: Riley Reiff Scouting Report

facebooktwitterreddit

Player: Riley Reiff
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Iowa
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 300 lbs

Positives: Looks lean and has carries weight well, Textbook form and technique while pass blocking, gets hands inside and uses them well, works up to second level and always finishes, plays angry, good at down blocking, always keep a very wide and stable base, rarely gives up outside pass rush, readjusts to spin moves well, dominates with strength and quickness.

Negatives: Not overly stout at POA, has a slow kick step in pass protection, gets away with holding calls, loses focus on picking up blitz schemes, will get pushed back at times.

Draft Grade: Top 15

Overview: Reiff gets overlooked a lot in this draft class a lot mainly because Matt Kalil is the top OT and he’s not a flashy prospect. He is, however, a flat out football player. While Reiff is athletic enough to play left tackle in the pros, unlike Kalil he might have to start on the right side for a bit. No matter what side he plays, expect him to be a solid player week in and week out. Just another great offensive tackle out of the Big Ten.
