Player: Quinton Coples
Position: Defensive End
School: North Carolina
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 285

Positives: Great height, weight, and speed combination, fantastic athleticism with long arms, has experience playing defensive tackle and holds his own, Big hitter, Can wreak havoc off edge or on inside gaps, has great range sideline to sideline and has ability to run down ball carriers, good instincts and play recognition, stout at POA and extends arms well, always keeps eyes in backfield, part of very talented UNC defense, gets a strong push and always finds a way to get to quarterback, fights off cut blocks and will knock a lot of balls down.

Negatives: Gets caught standing up and dancing around blockers, doesn’t really fight once realizes he’s double teamed, motor is inconsistent, could do better job of disengaging from blockers.

Draft Grade: Top 15

Overview: Coples reminds me of another big time pass rusher out of North Carolina — Julius Peppers. Like the Bears All-Pro, Coples has elite size and athletic ability to start in the pros. However, what this prospect brings to the table is amazing versatility to wreak havoc off the edge or get a strong bull rush inside. He really could excel in a system like the Giants that use multiple defensive ends in different fronts or shine on his own as a pure 4-3 pass rusher.
