Top Ten Available Free Agent Wide Receivers

  • Wes Welker [Received franchise tag]

Wes Welker is a beast. After a knee injury in 2009 that could have cut his career short, he came back to a lackluster 2010 season. With many wondering if he still had it, Welker produced a stellar 2011 season, ending with 1,737 yards — including the playoffs. The size of his heart and sheer determination would make him an asset anywhere.

  • Vincent Jackson

With the drama of 2010 behind him, Vincent Jackson roared back in 2011. His numbers brought back memories of a player he had been in past seasons. The only downside would be the holdout issues — that is hard to forget. His numbers prove he can still play hard, but is he just hard to work with?

  • Mike Wallace

Dreams of greatness in Pittsburgh are beginning to fade, but with Hines Ward possibly on his way out what does that leave the Steelers with? Mike Wallace only dropped four passes last season and that makes him reliable above all. Unfortunately, his stats look good overall, but if you break it down it’s a little rougher. He is in the top of the class because his moments of greatness shine brightest.

  • Dwayne Bowe [received franchise tag

Dwayne Bowe may have had a shortage of touchdown receptions this year, but his ability to stay consistent overall makes him relevant. He had 20+ yard receptions in twelve games. Given the right situation those touchdown numbers could grow and his stock would rise quickly.

  • Marques Colston

Colston has been reliable as any wideout in the NFL and would fit in nicely with a number of teams in need of receiver help. The way he ended the season will probably stick out in the minds of other teams looking for that spark.

  • DeSean Jackson [received franchise tag]

DeSean Jackson was on “The Dream Team” this year, with so many marquee players the season ended with little fanfare. In 2009, he did make the Pro Bowl in two different positions, so his stats are there, but those hands are not as reliable. He is a stud on the field when he is firing on all cylinders but when he is not things get rough.

  • Stevie Johnson [re-signed with Bills]

The Buffalo Bills started out with a team on fire and Johnson was a key component. He was able to explode this year and also lowered his number of dropped passes. The fans of Bills love him and so does a team with very few bright spots. He is not a big name, but he is a big time player. He has shown he can manage with the likes of Darrelle Revis and come out a winner.

  • Brandon Lloyd

The numbers that Brandon Lloyd has been able to produce over the last few years with questionable quarterbacks have been very good. He has managed to maintain on solid ground even with chaos around him. With other names wanting so much money is ability to perform could lead to a team getting him for an amazing deal.

  • Reggie Wayne

Reggie Wayne is still a skilled player. However, as the team around him has changed his position on the team has faded. This is the first time since 2003 that he has had less than a 1,000 yard season. Age is not necessarily on his side but his ability to perform makes him a great addition.

  • Laurent Robinson

Dallas seriously benefited from the skill-set that Robinson brought to the team this year. Robinson had 11 touchdown receptions last season as a solid number three receiver. His upside could make any team want him and maybe the Cowboys will be able to pay him and let him excel.
