New Orleans Saints Interested In Linebackers Market

The Saints are heavily pursuing quite a few free agent linebackers. Reportedly, the Saints would like to sign former Falcon Curtis Lofton, former Seahawk David Hawthorne, and former Bronco Joe Mays, among others.

Lofton is the second best defensive free agent this year, behind now Buffalo Bills Mario Williams. Stealing Lofton from the Falcons, who are in the same division as the Saints, would be huge. He is a young talent, and an excellent leader. With the way the Saints are targeting linebackers, I’m very surprised they didn’t jump in late with an offer to Williams.

But with the need for more linebackers, the Saints may need to release MLB Johnathon Vilma. If he is cut, New Orleans saves 3.4 million dollars which would allow them to sign other players, while being able to offer Curtis Lofton a favorable paycheck.
