The Buffalo Bills made a huge splash in free agency today, when they finally agreed to a contract with the top defensive free agent on the market — Mario Williams. Williams signed a blockbuster deal that pays him $100 million over six-years, with $50 million guaranteed.
The big question now is, what does this signing mean for the Buffalo Bills?
Well, for starters, it signals a culture change in Buffalo and sends a message to the fans and players that the front office is ready to win now. For the first time in a long time, the Bills have spent big bucks to bring in a top free agent that can change the direction of the team.
Mario Williams is a game-changer. He instantly makes any defense better and will strike fear in the eyes of Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez and whoever signs with the Miami Dolphins.
The Bills are serious about winning.
You don’t go out and spend $100 million on one player if you don’t plan on making a push for a championship. The Bills already re-signed the offenses big playmaker in Stevie Johnson, and now they add one of their own on defense. Williams makes the Bills defense a scary unit.
What this signing says to me is that we all better watch out for the Buffalo Bills. They are dedicated to winning and they plan on doing so in the immediate future.
