The inside linebacker market has been relatively quiet thus far in free agency. Now, expect the dominoes to start to fall. The first of the upper echelon of inside linebackers to sign a contract was Stephen Tulloch, who decided to re-sign with the Detroit Lions today.
Tulloch inked a five-year deal, per ProFootballTalk.com.
Tulloch was the Lions leading tackler last season, so bringing him back to the team was a huge and successful move. Couple that with the fact that Detroit retained defensive end Cliff Avril and the Lions have done an excellent job to keep their young nucleus on defense.
With Tulloch off the market, expect Curtis Lofton to be the next linebacker to find a new team — the New Orleans Saints seem like the favorite there.
