The San Francisco 49ers already have star running back Frank Gore, but they have added another powerful force to the backfield that will help the offense — former New York Giant Brandon Jacobs, who had a franchise record 56 rushing touchdowns.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced the news:

Jacobs will join former teammate Mario Manningham in the Bay Area. While Gore remains the unquestioned number one back, Jacobs will handle goal-line and short-yardage duties. The backfield is now loaded with Gore, Jacobs and the promising Kendall Hunter.
