Chicago Bears Select Shea McClellin with 19th Pick

The Chicago Bears waited and waited, and with offensive tackle Riley Reiff and defensive end Whitney Mercilus still on the board, the Bears decided to draft Shea McClellin out of Boise State.

To be honest, this pick doesn’t make much sense considering the needs that Chicago still has on their roster.  The Bears have one of the worst offensive lines in the league, yet they still decided to draft for their defense.

However, what makes this pick so difficult to understand is that McClellin is more designed for a 3-4 outside linebacker than a 4-3 defensive end in the NFL.  It will be interesting to see how much of an impact that McClellin will be able to make in his first year.
