The FanSided Network will be going dark today at 5:55 pm PT for 5 minutes as a tribute and gesture to remember the incredible career and life of the late Junior Seau. All NFL team sites will be offline for those five minutes as we remember the NFL great.

“We want to honor one of the finest players to ever step foot on all fie footbald,” said Ernie Padaon, editor of FanSided’s San Diego Chargers site “Bolt Beat.” Padaon and the Bolt Beat staff are organizing the moment of silence.

There was much public support for the gesture put out there from Padaon and the Bolt Beat staff. The likes of Reggie Bush, Peter King, Lorenzo Neal and many others have shared the link and shown their support for the moment of silence. The overwhelming support led the FanSided Network to make the decision to make the Seau tribute a network wide event.

“At FanSided the fans come first. When it became apparent to us that Ernie Padaon’s tribute resonated so much with the NFL world, we wanted to support this sign of respect to an NFL great,” said Patrick Allen, FanSided’s VP of Content.

“It’s only a game but we cheer just as much for the name on the back of the jersey as we do the logo on the helmet.”
