At a memorial service at Qualcomm Stadium to remember and celebrate the life of the late, great Junior Seau, the San Diego Chargers made the announcement that they will be retiring Seau’s number 55.

Thousands attended the service and many former players took the microphone to remember Seau. Some of the speakers included former Chargers Dan Fouts, LaDainian Tomlinson and coach Bobby Ross, along with Chargers chaplain Shawn Mitchell who opened the event by saying “Junior, we don’t know if you can see this down here, but tonight’s your night.”

Seau was a player unlike any other that played the game with the joy all fans love to see on the field. It is a well-deserved gesture by the Chargers to make sure no Charger will ever wear 55 again.
