Don’t Forget About Felix Jones

Felix Jones started last season as the Dallas Cowboys’ starting running back. He finished it on the bench having lost it to rookie DeMarco Murray. Jones has battled injuries since joining the league in 2008, and last season suffered a high ankle sprain.

But what’s more important is that Felix Jones was drafted to be a complementary back to Marion Barber III. Felix Jones will be returning to that role, hoping to be a game changer when he comes in, much like Barber was behind Julius Jones when he would come in after the defense was worn down.

“He’s an integral part of our firepower,” Jerry Jones said. “He will always give defenses something that they’ve got to be ready for. He adds a dimension to what we can do in the entire offensive scheme. He gives us a lot of options when he’s in there.”

Not only that but most NFL offense’s use a multiple back system.

“You put them both in there and that gives us some options,” Jerry Jones said. “Not trying to be a coordinator here, but I like them both.”

The Dallas Cowboys surely won’t be short on options offensively it’s all a matter of whether Felix can’t capitalize on the opportunity. It’s the final year of  Jones’ rookie contract which means he might have a little extra motivation to perform this season as he looks for a new deal.
