With their first-round pick, the Green Bay Packers made former Southern Cal star Nick Perry the newest member of the franchise. It looks like the investment in Perry’s future will pay off sooner rather than later.

According to Dan Arkush on ProFootballWeekly.com, Perry has established himself as the “clear cut starter” opposite Clay Matthews.

Perry will start on the strong side, while Matthews will occupy the weakside linebacker position. While those two positions are now set in stone, the focus will shift to the Packers inside linebacker situation, where the starters are not so clear cut. AJ Hawk’s lack of coverage skill is hurting his chances of cracking the starting lineup.

It looks like DJ Smith, who is entering his second-year, is the most likely starter alongside Desmond Bishop.
