NFL Schedule Preview: Chicago Bears

It’s 47 days until the new NFL season begins but for a football mad guy like me that’s just too long so I’ve taken it upon myself to go over each NFL schedule and try and predict for all of you what may happen once the season rolls around.
This week we turn our attention to the NFC in our study of the NFL schedule beginning in the contentious NFC North with the Chicago Bears who went 8-8 in 2011. Here’s how I think their season will go:
- Week 1 vs Indianapolis Colts – Win
- Week 2 at Green Bay Packers – Loss
- Week 3 vs St Louis Rams – Win
- Week 4 at Dallas Cowboys – Win
- Week 5 at Jacksonville Jaguars – Win
- Week 6 BYE
- Week 7 vs Detroit Lions – Loss
- Week 8 vs Carolina Panthers – Win
- Week 9 at Tennessee Titans – Win
- Week 10 vs Houston Texans – Win
- Week 11 at San Francisco 49ers – Win
- Week 12 vs Minnesota Vikings – Win
- Week 13 vs Seattle Seahawks – Win
- Week 14 at Minnesota Vikings – Win
- Week 15 vs Green Bay Packers – Win
- Week 16 at Arizona Cardinals – Win
- Week 17 at Detroit Lions – Win
Overall Record for the Chicago Bears in 2012: 14-2
The schedule for the Bears is by no means easy considering they play in the tough NFC North and with the addition of the Cowboys, Texans and 49ers there’s plenty of tough teams for Chicago to deal with in 2012. With that said, overall the schedule for the Bears is middle of the road in terms of difficulty.
The strong prediction regarding this team is due in part to some of the softer matchups faced this season but more because on paper the Bears are one of the stronger teams in the NFC and when it comes to projecting success or failure they matchup well against any team in the league given their well balanced roster. The two game stretch of weeks 10 and 11 against the Texans and 49ers should prove to be the real litmus test for this team and go a long way to determining if they are true contenders or once again the pretenders of the NFC.
