NFL Schedule Preview: Seattle Seahawks

It’s 34 days until the new NFL season begins but for a football mad guy like me that’s just too long so I’ve taken it upon myself to go over each NFL schedule and try and predict for all of you what may happen once the season rolls around.

With six divisions now in the books, this week we move onto the NFC West beginning with the Seattle Seahawks who went 7-9 in 2011. Here’s how I think their season will go:

  • Week 1 at Arizona Cardinals – Loss
  • Week 2 vs Dallas Cowboys – Loss
  • Week 3 vs Green Bay Packers – Loss
  • Week 4 at St Louis Rams – Win
  • Week 5 at Carolina Panthers – Loss
  • Week 6 vs New England Patriots – Loss
  • Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers – Loss
  • Week 8 at Detroit Lions – Loss
  • Week 9 vs Minnesota Vikings – Win
  • Week 10 vs New York Jets – Loss
  • Week 11 BYE
  • Week 12 at Miami Dolphins – Win
  • Week 13 at Chicago Bears – Loss
  • Week 14 vs Arizona Cardinals – Win
  • Week 15 at Buffalo Bills – Win
  • Week 16 vs San Francisco 49ers – Loss
  • Week 17 vs St Louis Rams – Win

Overall Record for the Seattle Seahawks in 2012: 6-10

This season’s schedule for the Seahawks looks pretty manageable over all but it’s one that I expect will be defined very early as they begin with eight games that overall are extremely tough. If there is one thing that is usually true when it comes to analyzing schedules it is that when you start out with a bunch of tough games then overall you’re gonna struggle all season no matter who you’re up against. I’ll be very surprised if the Seahawks are at .500 when they reach their very late week 11 bye.

With all that said I do think this is a team that has made plenty of moves in the right direction and this will show down the stretch as the schedule gets easier. It’s not going to be easy travelling to Chicago and Buffalo in the cold either. However, you can see potential for momentum as the season comes to an end and if somehow the Seahawks reach their bye still in playoff contention – and in the NFC that’ll probably require a minimum of five wins at that point – then they should make it.

Tomorrow our sojourn through the NFC West as we check out the San Francisco 49ers.
