News Stories From Around the AFC South

Chris Johnson has fewer rushing yards than Jake Locker. With 19 carries for 21 yards through two games, Johnson has Titans fans and fantasy owners equally worried, as the season may turn out to be a bust for he and the Titans.

Andrew Luck gets his first NFL victory. Luck played like everyone wants him to. En route to completing just shy of 65% of his passes, he threw 2 touchdowns and no picks, to go along with 224 yards and a 107.5 passer rating.

Houston Texans look poised to win the division. Houston has looked like the team to beat in the AFC South. The offense has picked up where it left off without Andre Johnson, and defensively J.J. Watt is bringing the heat.

Blaine Gabbert has yet to throw an interception this season. After a very rough inaugural season, Gabbert looked efficient and poised in week 1, while regressing in the second week. Still, 0 interceptions to 3 touchdowns is a good sign for this young quarterback who was a question mark heading into the season.

Maurice Jones-Drew has yet to score a touchdown. After a slightly nasty holdout, the running back could have done better to deliver a score in the first two games to make his case.

J.J. Watt gets AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Having already posted three sacks throughout two games, J.J. Watt is showing the world why the Texans felt confident in letting Mario Williams walk.

Maurice Stovall will play Tight End for Jacksonville this season. The seven year veteran was signed by the franchise after the decision to wave Stephen Spach. The franchise will utilize him at the tight end position.

Chris Palmer is under fire as the OC of the Titans. Many people are starting to grumble that the last two seasons of ineffectiveness from Chris Johnson has more to do with Chris Palmer’s inability to use him correctly.

Andrew Luck can run with the football. Hearing that Luck has put up 533 yards passing is not as much of a shock as his 6 rushes for 30 yards. He has shown an ability to take-off when necessary, but not until absolutely necessary. His ability in this regard is similar to Aaron Rodgers.

The Texans can run just as well as they can throw. After a disappointing initial outing from the run game, Houston responded by running the ball as a team 48 times for 216 yards. This offense is primed to remain a powerhouse.
