During the Indianapolis Colts’ bye week, the team’s head coach Chuck Pagano went to doctors after experiencing unusual fatigue. When Pagano was being checked out by the doctors, it was discovered that he has a serious illness which will sideline him for a few games beginning with next week’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Early reports indicate that Pagano has been diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia.
In the 52-year-old’s absence, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will take over head coaching duties. It will definitely impact the team from a philosophical point of view since Arians is an offensive mind, while Pagano was a hard-nosed defensive coach who was helping the team transition to the 3-4 defense.
The Colts will hold a press conference today to introduce Pagano’s doctor and give details of his illness. The team remains very optimistic about Pagano’s return and the fiery coach has said that he expects to return soon as he stays in high spirits.
Until Pagano is back on the field and defeats this illness, keep him and his family in your thoughts.
