Chicago Bears rookie wide receier Alshon Jeffery hauled in his second touchdown catch of the season during the Bears 41-3 trouncing of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. While Jeffery should have enjoyed the touchdown reception, he will have a hard time doing so after learning he suffered a broken hand during the catch.
Multiple reports now indicate that Jeffery will miss four to six weeks due to the injury and his hand is currently in a cast. The good news for the Bears second-round pick is that the fracture will not require surgery.
With Jeffery out, Bears punt returner/receiver Devin Hester will have a chance to shine on offense. Brandon Marshall will also have to step up and pick up some extra slack as Jay Cutler will be looking for someone to target. Luckily for the Bears, the injury shouldn’t hurt them too much since they sit with a firm lead in the NFC North.
