Report: Redskins TE Fred Davis Has Torn Achilles

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis was helped to the sideline in today’s game against the New York Giants with an apparent leg injury. It has since been confirmed that Davis has suffered a torn Achilles tendon which will almost certainly end his season.

The Redskins must now turn to second year wide receiver turned tight end Niles Paul and H-back Logan Paulsen for the rest of today’s game but for the rest of the year a familiar face is likely to return to Washington. Veteran Chris Cooley has refused to sign with any other club since being cut by the Redskins in the hope he would be able to come back to the team he loves.

Head Coach Mike Shanahan has previously indicated he wanted to bring Cooley back into the fold if the chance came so expect Chris Cooley to once again be a Washington Redskin by this time next week.
