Immediately following the news that Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis was done for the season with a torn Achilles tendon, the talk immediately began that the Redskins would bring former H-back Chris Cooley back to Washington. As it turned out, the immediate assumptions turned into a reality.
Cooley will re-unite with the Redskins but how soon can he contribute after being away from the game through the first few weeks. If you ask Cooley, he should be just fine.
“I’m really, really glad I didn’t go anywhere else,” Cooley said, per Rich Campbell of theWashington Times. “Right now it’s just about fitting in and doing what I can do.”
Whether or not Cooley is in game shape remains to be seen but he is familiar with the offense so he should be able to help fellow tight end Logan Paulsen get a better grip on the offense and contribute immediately. Cooley may not have the same impact that Redskins fans remember from him but he will be able to help the team out.
