While the Jacksonville Jaguars are receiving plenty of bad injury news over the past 24 hours, there is a slight reason to smile on the Maurice Jones-Drew front. Per multiple reports, the Jaguars star running back has avoided the dreaded Lisfranc injury and will not see his season come to an abrupt end.

Instead, Jones-Drew is expected to only miss a few weeks with a mid-foot sprained.

The good news is that Jones-Drew will return this season and he does not need surgery, but it is a major setback for the Jaguars, Jones-Drew who is seeking a long-term contract and all of his fantasy owners who will now be scrambling for a replacement.

Rashad Jennings will carry the load for the Jaguars in Jones-Drew’s absence.
