David Garrard Is Healthy and Available To Teams Needing Veteran QB

July 30, 2011; Jacksonville FL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard (9) waves to the fans during training camp at Florida Blue Health Group. US PRESSWIRE

Free agent quarterback David Garrard was initially slated to begin the season as the Miami Dolphins starting signal-caller before undergoing knee surgery and being dumped in favor of rookie Ryan Tannehill.

Now, after a weekend that saw numerous starting quarterbacks fall to injury around the league, Garrard is letting it be known that he is healthy and available. The timing couldn’t be better for Garrard.

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer passed along the news on Twitter:

There are plenty of teams who will be looking to add a veteran quarterback over the next few weeks, so Garrard is definitely a name to watch. He looked good enough in the offseason to win a starting gig so he should still have enough talent to help a team if his number gets called.
