Pittsburgh Steelers Suspend Rashard Mendenhall

The days of the Pittsburgh Steelers anxiously awaiting the return of running back Rashard Mendenhall now seem like a distant memory. Mendenhall had been demoted from starter to third-string, but he has now been removed from the depth chart after the Steelers announced their decision to suspend their former 2008 first-round pick.

Mendenhall will be suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team — a suspension that will cost him $41,000.

While Mendenhall is serving his suspension, Baron Batch will be promoted from the practice squad to fill his spot on the active roster.
