There was some debate over whether or not the Tennessee Titans would cut ties with running back Chris Johnson before a February 9th deadline that would force them to guarantee $9 million of his salary for the 2013-14 NFL season. As it turns out, it wasn’t a difficult decision for the Titans to make despite Johnson’s inconsistency since signing his big money contract.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Johnson’s roster spot is “fine” and he is expected to return to the Titans for next season.
What I said on TA: The #Titans plan to bring Chris Johnson back for 2013. 7th in rushing & one of the team’s star. Due $10M in 2013

Johnson has been a wildly inconsistent back for the Titans, but he still has shown flashes of brilliance and that is apparently enough for the Titans to bring him back for next season.
