The Arizona Cardinals released one of their defensive focal points over the past decade on defense in Adrian Wilson. And now that he is a free agent and can somewhat decide where he goes in the future. He is 33 and his play has declined but he could provide a team a serviceable and veteran presence at the safety position.

The San Francisco 49ers’ safety Dashon Goldson is a free agent this off season. That leaves the 49ers with a hole in their secondary, provided they don’t re-sign Goldson.

And while on XTRA Sports 910 in PhoenixAdrian Wilson hinted at where he might want to go.

“I don’t know, man. I just want to keep playing ball, wherever that is. Obviously going to a contender and being able to play for a championship, that would be the best-case scenario,” Wilson said. “Staying on the west coast would be the best-case scenario. … But wherever the call is, whatever the team that wants my services that knows the type of player that I am and needs that type of player, then obviously I’ll go there.”

He wants to play for a team that will contend for a championship and stay on the west coast?

That pretty much singles out the San Francisco 49ers who lost in last year’s Super Bowl and have played in 2 consecutive NFC Championship games.
