With the Redskins missing out on cornerback Antoine Winfield who signed with the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the free agency period. The Redskins are now setting their sights on 33 year old veteran free agent cornerback Quentin Jammer.

Jammer, who was a first round pick of the San Diego Chargers back in 2002, could be the best option for the Redskins, since he is still on the free agency market. Jammer who has been in the league for 12 years has 21 interceptions and seven forced fumbles. According to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan, he is meeting with team officials tonight.

Jammer has been a pretty solid corner for his career and this is the best the Skins can do with them being $18 million in salary cap penalties. Last season, Jammer played in all 16 games and has been pretty healthy his whole career. In terms of stats, Jammer had 64 tackles, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.

With the Redskins already having DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson starting at cornerback, Jammer could come in and be a solid number three corner or possibly complete with Josh Wilson for that number two corner spot. Regardless if the Redskins do sign Jammer, I expect it to be a one or two year deal and he will not have to compete with the likes of Jerome Murphy, DJ Johnson, Cedric Griffin, or Richard Crawford.
