Justin Smith and San Francisco 49ers Reach Contract Extension

The San Francisco 49ers and defensive tackle Justin Smith have come to terms on a contract extension. Smith has agreed to a 2-year contract extension through 2015.

Not bad for a 33 year defensive tackle that had to negotiate his own deal. Smith left his agency recently and wanted to get it done himself. If you want things done, do it yourself!

The 49ers defense held opponents to a 57.8 total QBR with Smith on the field and a 75.2 with him off of the field.

He has 32 sacks in the last 5 years with the 49ers and is one of the fiercest defenders in the league. He takes up blockers and allows player like Aldon Smith to make plays.

Smith has worked hard to reach this level. Hopefully he did a good job in negotiating that contract and will get paid.
