Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Warren Sapp has no love for the New York Giants. His recent comments about one of the best pass rushers in the history of the game is more evidence of it. Sapp feels that former Giants DE Michael Strahan.
During a conversation with the Tampa Tribune, Sapp took the ultimate shot at Strahan, saying that “he wasn’t even on the level of Simeon Rice as a pass rusher.”
“Nobody ever talks about Simeon,” said Sapp, who played three seasons with Rice in Tampa and saw the right defensive end average 14 sacks between 2001-03. “Simeon was a better rusher than Michael Strahan any day of the week and twice on Sunday.” – Black Sports Online
Of course Sapp wants to give love to his former teammate, but Strahan set the record for most sacks in a single season. I don’t care who you line up against every Sunday, that still is impressive. Strahan backs his teammate and former Giants RB Tiki Barber has to back his teammate. Here is Barber’s thoughts on Sapp:
“Warren’s an idiot,” Barber said. “He just wants to say things to be idiotic. I played with Stray for my whole career. He is the greatest of the great. He is a great teammate, he kept things light, but on game day he was as serious as a heart attack and it showed in his play.” – pro football talk
Warren had an idiotic statement, but what else is new.
