What a month it has been for the New England Patriots. The team has been engulfed in the Aaron Hernandez scandal and handled it in an admirable manner, but now the team has another major issue thanks to cornerback Alfonzo Dennard.

According to Omaha World-Herald and reporter Jay Withrow, Dennard was arrested on suspicion of DUI:

"Former Nebraska football player and current New England Patriots defensive back Alfonzo Dennard was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday in Lincoln.Lincoln police Capt. Jason Stille said officers spotted a westbound Honda straddling the lane line on Normal Boulevard between 50th and 56th Streets about 2 a.m.Dennard, 24, was alone in the vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, refusing a chemical test and a driving infraction."

The Spin: Yet another PR blow for the Patriots, this time after taking a risk on Dennard late in a draft despite character concerns. He recently served time in jail but that didn’t stop the Pats from keeping him around.

Outside of bad press, this is something that could hurt the Pats on the field if Dennard is convicted. The team is thin at the position as is, and you better believe NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has Dennard in his sights based on previous issues already.
