Fred Smoot: “Nobody that meets Emmitt Smith likes Emmitt Smith”

Fred Smoot played in the NFL for 9 years and 7 of those years he spent as a Washington Redskins cornerback. There is no love between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys, so a comment that Smoot made on a recent podcast should not surprise anyone:

“Nobody that meets Emmitt Smith likes Emmitt Smith,” Smoot said. “Have you ever heard anybody say, hey man, I met that Emmitt Smith and I really love him? Nobody likes Emmitt Smith. I don’t know if he’s just a jerk because he’s a Cowboy. I don’t know. He be rubbing people the wrong way.” – Washington Post

Is Emmitt Smith a jerk? I wouldn’t want to trust a Redskins opinion on the subject. I am sure he thinks the same of any other player that puts on that star on the side of their helmet. That is just how the relationship from those two sides goes.

Ask Emmitt Smith what he thinks about Fred Smoot. He will probably say “Who the hell is Fred Smoot?!”
