Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sign RB Peyton Hillis

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and RB Peyton Hillis have agreed to a one-year deal today. Hillis will provide some depth to the Buccaneers roster. The running back group was thin behind Doug Martin, so the signing is much needed help.

Hillis can give Doug Martin a breather here and there and likely will not steal too many carries. Hillis can be given some opportunities for short yardage situations.

I am sure that there will be a ton of Mike Alstott comparisons out in Tampa. He has the same running style and is white. If Hillis were able to line up at fullback for Tampa Bay, then the comparisons would go on non-stop throughout the season.

i’d say it’s a good signing. he actually is playing for a team that has a passing attack. so that should take the pressure off him when he gets carries. i’m starting to think the Bucs could climb to the top of the NFC South.

It will be on Freeman. Otherwise they suffer like the Chiefs did. All this talent, no quarterback

Josh threw for over 4000 yards and 27 TD. it has been the inconsistency from the organization, and lack of help around him. Because of Williams and VJ the bucs did not see 8 men in the box, often. The run game did not take advantage of this. Hillis will get more 7 an 6 man fronts in tampa.
