Not to the surprise of Buffalo Bills fans, Jairus Byrd has not showed up to training camp and his return is still up in the air. He hasn’t signed his franchise tag tender yet. He wants a multi-year deal, but the Bills are unwilling to reach an agreement. The two sides haven’t spoken to each other in over a month. This should be interesting to watch how this turns out.
Byrd won’t be able to get a multi-year deal with the Bills at this time, since the deadline for franchise tagged players to agree to one has passed. He can try to demand a trade or demand that the Bills do not franchise tag him again next season. Other than those options, there is no reason to hold out except to skip out on some practices. This will not be a fun one to watch. It will be interesting to see how he is received when he returns to the team, sometime this year.
