Raiders LB Kaluka Maiava on Crutches

Oakland Raiders LB Kaluka Maiava left practice early with an injury and returned to the field in a walking boot and crutches. Dennis Allen said that none of the injuries today were serious, but a walking boot and crutches suggest otherwise.

Maiava has been splitting first team snaps with Kevin Burnett and this could affect his chances at winning the starting job. He also has some legal issues that he is dealing with. He has charges filed against him for assault in an incident in Hawaii.

He better get back onto the football field quick or his chances at the starting job will start to disappear. He needs to get to practice and he needs to get on the field during the preseason. Right now, there is no timetable on his return and the extent of the injury still has not been determined. We will have to sit and wait.

Rule number three. Never, ever, get hurt in training camp. especially when you have off the field “legal” issues.
