Brian Cushing was back on the field for 7-on-7s with the rest of his Houston Texan teammates for the first time today. He has been out rehabbing from knee surgery, but he has been limited to only a few drills:
“It felt great,” Cushing said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve been telling guys, this is the right feeling. I’m playing football, making plays again. It was a long offseason, but I’ve got no worries now, no residual effects. No pain. I can plant and cut. Everything feels normal again.”
The return of Cushing will definitely help bolster the middle of the defense. The Texans signed Joe Mays to help over the middle, but having Cushing back on the field would be an even bigger boost for the team.
Cushing was only able to play in 5 games last season before suffering the injury. He recorded 30 tackles.
