In case you have not heard, the New York Jets have an exciting quarterback battle in training camp this year between Mark Sanchez and rookie quarterback Geno Smith.

It would be unwise to place any bets on the outcome of the battle because it’s a toss up. Sanchez has proven to be ineffective in the past and Smith is a bit of a question mark, at least as it pertains to just how well he is picking up the NFL game.

Sanchez may be on the hot seat, but he sure feels like everything is going his way this offseason. Check out this quote obtained by Rich Cimini of ESPN:

"“I feel like I’m having a great camp,” Sanchez told reporters Friday after practice. “My arms feel good, my legs feel good, I feel strong, I feel accurate, I feel like I’m in command.”"

The Spin: Good for Sanchez. He’s going to need that type of positive attitude. It’s plain as day the Jets brought in a quarterback to replace him at one point or another, but the positive vibes should at least keep things civil.

Sanchez may end up winning the starting job, but word on the street is Smith has looked mighty impressive the last few days. If Smith goes out and plays better than Sanchez in the preseason games we wonder if he’ll keep singing the positive tunes in front of the media.

Only time will tell.
