Veteran Quarterback Vince Young and the Green Bay Packers have agreed on a one-year deal. Young will compete for a job as the backup to Aaron Rodgers. It should be a great situation and opportunity for Young.

Young will get to ride on the coattails of one of the best quarterbacks in the league. When the Packers lock in their playoff spot early, Aaron Rodgers will likely take a seat for game 16 of the year and Young can step in and impress the league. Then he can work his way to a new contract, the same way Matt Flynn did.

The Packers just lost their starting left tackle for the year with an ACL tear yesterday, so signing a backup quarterback makes a ton of sense. If Aaron Rodhers gets killed, then there is someone who can step in and play quarterback for the team.

Current backup QB Graham Harrell hasn’t really set the world on fire with his play, so Young will get the opportunity to take that spot in camp and become the new backup to Rodgers.
