Tampa Bay Buccaneers star RB Doug Martin escaped the game against the New England Patriots without a major injury. Martin was helping out in pass protection in the game and went low on Chandler Jones. During the play, Jones had his knee hit Martin right on the top of the helmet. Martin went down and was wobbly, but he was able to get to the locker room on his own power. He passed the concussion tests and was told that he could return to the game if he needed to. It was preseason, so there was no reason to get back out there.

If Martin were to suffer a concussion, he would have been out indefinitely.

Doug Martin is a big part of the Buccaneers offense. If he were to go down for any long period of time, the Buccaneers would have to rely on Brian Leonard and Mike James in the running game. There is a big time dropoff if Martin is not in the game. Stay healthy Doug.
