Packers Release Graham Harrell: Vince Young Likely New Backup

The Green Bay Packers are releasing backup quarterback Graham Harrell today. The job is going to go to Vince Young. Young has played well in the preseason and has earned the backup job. It has been a long road back for Vince, but now he has a job backing up Aaron Rodgers. So he will be a professional clipboard holder and be called in during blowouts and likely the last regular season game. Usually the Packers have everything locked up by that point and there is no reason to trot Aaron onto the field for that game.

It seems that Vince has grown up and is making the most of his opportunity. Maybe he can latch onto a club next season and compete for a starting gig. Or he can hold onto that clipboard for a pretty long time. Whatever he prefers really.

Congrats to Vince Young.
