During the first half of the Oakland Raiders preseason game last night, the team looked like they would be competing in the Jadeveon Clowney sweepstakes. They looked like they were headed for the first overall draft pick. The team looked like TRASH. Matt Flynn led the way for most of the first half and quickly went down 24 to NOTHING.
4 plays… PUNT. 2 plays… INTERCEPTION. 4 plays…. MISSED FIELD GOAL. 3 plays… PUNT. 4 plays… INTERCEPTION. Then Matt Flynn was asked to kindly take a seat for Terrelle Pryor.
Flynn was sacked once and threw for 19 yards and 2 interceptions. Absolutely terrible.
Then the magic happened. Terrelle Pryor came into the game and added a spark. He got the team on the board before the half by driving the team for a field goal. Then in the second half, things really started to shift. The team’s offense started to look good. Pryor was able to escape the pocket multiple times and gain yards with his feet. He also was able to create more time behind the line of scrimmage to allow his receivers to get open. Pryor ran for a 25 yard touchdown and also threw a 19 yard touchdown to his tight end.
Pryor led the Raiders to 20 points against the Bears and had a few exciting plays. He needs an opportunity to be the starter. I know the team wants to go with Matt Flynn, but why would you want to go through with that mess. The offensive line is a mess. The only quarterback that has a chance back there is Pryor. He can run around and escape the pocket and make plays with his feet. In that preseason finale, Pryor should get the start and play against some of the ones for a little. Figure it out and give Pryor a shot to be the starter. He should be.
